Zoë Harcombe is an HR professional who has worked at Director and Board level since 1996. Zoë has experience in the following:

 

* Sectors: FMCG; Pharmaceuticals; Telecommunications; Economic Development and Utilities.

 

* Organisations: Mars; SmithKline Beecham (now GSK); Newbridge/ Alcatel; the Welsh Development Agency and Welsh Water.

* Types of organisation: Public & private sector; start-up's; SME's; national and international corporations; employee sizes from 1 to 100,000.

 

During her time working as an HR Director, Zoë has developed a model of the role of HR (see "What is HR?"). Zoë has expertise in all of these 20 areas and has lead teams of 25 HR professionals in the delivery of these activities for organisations.

 

 

Having started her career in Management Consultancy, Zoë has strong business foundations and is trained in skills as diverse as activity based costing and market segmentation.

 

 After working for The LEK Partnership in management consultancy, Zoë spent six years with the Mars Corporation receiving invaluable training in motivating people, coaching, training trainers, project management, presentation skills and other key leadership tools. Whilst at Mars, Zoë worked in manufacturing, training for manufacturing employees, marketing, sales and logistics - for Mars Electronics and subsequently Mars Confectionery - before being internally headhunted to join Personnel & Organisation (as HR is known in Mars). Zoë realised that she had found her 'home' and has operated at the most senior level of HR ever since.

 

Having headed up business divisions with hundreds of employees, Zoë knows how important it is for business leaders to be able to rely completely on their HR function. Zoë is obsessed with customer service and sees her customers as the organisation she works for and the employees within it.
